This proposal presents a plan to establish an integrated bicycle network within the city, connecting key locations such as schools and public facilities. The objective is to enhance sustainable mobility and improve the overall quality of life for residents. With existing infrastructure comprising 41 kilometers of cycle routes, 2.2 kilometers of cycle tracks, and 1.8 kilometers of bike lanes, this proposal aims to expand and reinforce the current network. The proposed bicycle network prioritizes connectivity, enabling efficient and safe transportation across urban areas. A special emphasis will be placed on connecting schools and public facilities, recognizing their vital role in the daily lives of citizens. The plan includes guidelines for strategic urban densification, promoting the establishment of new central hubs and ensuring user safety. Supporting measures will be implemented to encourage non-motorized transportation, including appropriate infrastructure, signage, and cyclist support amenities. The project will be integrated with the city’s ongoing revision of the Urban Mobility Plan, ensuring alignment with different modes of transportation. Given that the current public transportation concession expires in 2026, this proposal takes into consideration the timeline to ensure a coordinated approach that embraces nonmotorized options, particularly the proposed bicycle network and other active mobility structures. The implementation of this integrated bicycle network will mark a significant paradigm shift in the city’s transportation landscape, fostering sustainability and encouraging the adoption of alternative means of transportation. Furthermore, the network’s expansion will encompass connections to neighboring districts and tourist circuits, benefiting the region as a whole. In conclusion, this proposal presents a comprehensive and formal plan to establish an integrated bicycle network, promoting sustainable mobility and enhancing connectivity within the city. By creating an extensive infrastructure that connects schools, public facilities, and various urban areas, this initiative will transform the way people travel and contribute to a more sustainable and livable city.
