Healthy streets as public space and/or green connectors
Public space and physical access to the street for vulnerable groups (children, pregnant women, the elderly, people with disabilities, adults at risk, others)
Leandro Polastrini is an important street, with some restaurants and bars that are very popular, two schools and a square on the outskirts, and other services for the community. It connects the north to the south and east to west sectors of the city, so it is used a lot. It is very wide, and the parallel streets that cross it are disconnected, which has hindered a project that combines road safety with quality of life. Our goal is to democratize the use of the spaces on the road, building spaces for coexistence and integration with the environment, using the Complete Streets concept. We need vegetation, green and shaded spaces, places for residents and passersby to socialize, and safe access for motor vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians. But it has not been easy to find a way given all the challenges and the fact that the street is residential and commercial. We believe that the whole community will benefit from the project, since it is an important street, well centralized, and that has public and gastronomic services that are a reference for the city.
